You sank down to your knees in the high foliage just in front of the giant tree trunk to catch your breath. You were exhausted from your long trek and your calves were throbbing from your stiletto boots. Fashionable wasn't always sensible. The dragonfly of pixie dust was bobbing up and down above your head as if to encourage you while tiny flashes of light sprung off of it like a sparkler. It was almost completely dark now. Above you there was nothing but reaching tree branches that entangled each other making a canopy of leaves like a mock roof. The wind was picking up as nightfall was arriving so you held your arms around your middle for warmth. You would need to get inside soon before it really started to get cold. Your stomach was turning now and it wasn't just because you were hungry. A lump had formed in your gut when you read the words Pixie Hollow. You hadn't liked any of the pixies you had met so far and it seemed as if the feeling had been mutual. Of all things why did it have to be pixies?

Seeming to have lost its patience with you, the dragonfly began whirring and buzzing in irritation around your ears. Then it began to bob back and forth spasmodically in front of your eyes. You followed it with your gaze and figured out that it was trying to direct your attention to your left. You turned your whole head in that direction and looked for whatever it was the pixie dust dragonfly was trying to show you. You saw nothing but trees and plants everywhere. Not understanding, you turned to look back at the humming ball of light, but just when you turned your head you caught a flicker in the left side of your peripheral. You spun your head around and squinted your eyes so you could see more clearly. There at the base of one of the massive tree trunks was a single small beam of orange light peering through the thick palms of the exotic plant that sat around its base. You crawled on your hands and knees over towards that barely discernible light and as you began to get closer you began to hear the tinkling of many bells. It was like tiny wind chimes, flutes, and bells of all kinds were all going off quietly at the same time, their musical echoes carried faintly on the wind. They got louder and louder as you approached. Reaching the overgrown wild plant, that was about waist height if you were standing up, you slowly pulled back one of it's giant slick leafy palm fronds. Your eyes widened at the surreal sight before you.

With the plant pulled back you could see that the base of that enormous tree had been hollowed out and while you couldn't really make out a lot of what was inside it you could see a tiny stair system that seemed to lead up into the trunk of the tree. It was like the ancient tree had been carved into a dollhouse. The opening of it was only big enough for a small rabbit to fit through. You wouldn't even be able to stick your head in it to see up into the tree. The best you could do was try and peer through the small opening. The orange light you had seen was the glow of tiny torches the size of tooth picks which stood in a neat ceremonial line at the edge of the tree roots. There were ornate carvings that were embedded into the base of the tree that looked as if they had been done with the smallest most delicate chisel in the world. The engravings were in a cluster of pictures that all came together in a swirling and looping design. You had never seen any images like these ones. They looked old and ancient, like from something you would see in The Lord Of The Rings or some ancient ruins somewhere. It wasn't just the fact that they were beautiful to look at that drew your eye, it was that they were lit up by a trail of sparkling rainbow colored pixie dust. You hadn't known that pixie dust came in any colors other than white, gold, and orange. You were so mesmerized by the glowing colorful pattern that you had forgotten about your dragonfly guide. It zipped beneath your nose and went up into the cavernous tree trunk and out of your sight. You sat dumbfounded for what seemed like a painfully long time but was probably mere minutes. With the dragonfly no longer acting as an orb of light the thick woods around you suddenly seemed to be closing in on you in the darkness. The wind ruffled the leaves of all the surrounding trees and plants, making a cascade of chattering noise on all sides. The sounds of the forest weren't so peaceful at night and you had been in Neverland long enough to know just how dangerous it was for you to be out here on your own. A little too late, you began to worry about leaving the tree house without so much as leaving a note behind for Tootles. Then again what would you have said? "Spit out a blazing ball of pixie dust. Gone to follow it." Yeah that wouldn't have made him worry much.

Being alone in the chill dark of the night had your senses on hyper alert. You turned and started at every snapping of a twig, every crackle of a leaf,  and at every chirp of an unseen insect. Your eyes scanned the surrounding thicket of trees and foliage for any signs of movement. Suddenly a small sound came to your ears like a faint whisper. You looked around but saw nothing out of the ordinary. You closed your eyes, stilling yourself and focused on only your sense of sound. You strained your ears, not hearing anything but the frustrating sounds of nature around you that you had grown accustomed to. There, once again you heard it, barely distinguishable, but it was something. It was like an echo of tinkling and of humming, but it wasn't music. It was growing slightly louder and clearer with every second you listened. It was drawing closer and it seemed to be muffled. When you had first came upon the tree you had heard what sounded like a rhapsody of high pitched noises, but they had stopped somewhere in the time the dragonfly pixie dust went into the tree. Funny, you hadn't noticed that earlier. You finally opened your eyes and noticed that the base of the tree trunk was starting to glow a bit brighter from the inside opening. A bright pale silver beam, an even brighter yellow ray, and a bold neon green glow of light began to fill the entire hollow of the base of the tree trunk in front of you. It was so bright you had to bring your hand up to shield your eyes from its intensity. Squinting your eyes and staring at the hole in that tree you saw 3 tiny figures fly out onto the wooden base of the hollowed out dwelling. Their shining lights dimmed down and you blinked to adjust your eyes back to normal. Standing there just behind the row of tiny tiki torches was Selene and Helios, the leaders of the Light Faeries who had healed you when you had been attacked by the mermaids, and there standing beside Selene, was a pixie you had never seen before. His smooth gleaming skin was the color of poured dark chocolate and it reflected slightly the bright green glow of his wings. The wings behind his broad bare shoulders were like those of an exotic butterfly's. The wings themselves were such a pale shade of jade that they looked like stained green glass with connecting wires of neon green veins. The splendor of his wings only enhanced the simplicity of his outfit. He wore only a short skirt made from the greenest blades of grass. It went down only to his knees. On his feet he wore gladiator sandals much like Helios' only instead of being gold like his, these looked to be made of dark black leather. His flat chest was ripped with a scaled down version of a twelve pack and was left bare with only a simple ornate pattern of painted on neon swirls on both of his pecks. His triceps were encircled by two small bands of black leather. Helios and Selene seemed to be decked out in resplendent finery and yet standing next to them in simpler clothing he was far more striking. He had a long strong jaw with full pillow soft lips and a slightly wide nose that fit perfectly into place with his smooth shaved head. His eyes were like smoldering coals simmering behind a plush curtain of long dark lashes. Helios was gorgeous with his trident crown and luscious wavy waist length golden curls and Roman features, but this faerie looked as if he was handcrafted from the raw beauty of mother nature herself. You stared at the miniature man-like creature, entranced by the force of his sheer exotic magnificence. Selene gave a delicate clearing of her throat which ended up sounding like the rustling of wind chimes to your ears. You blinked and forced yourself to turn your gaze towards her.

Selene stood primly and proudly with her fragile looking hands folded in front of her lap. She looked at you sharply with her too big eyes, the color of ice chips. She didn't look angry per say but she didn't look particularly happy to see you either. Considering Peter's threat the last time you had met them it wasn't that big of a surprise. "You look perfectly healthy to me," she said cutting the small talk in her tinkling voice. "I am for the most part," you replied just as curt. Her perfectly arched eyebrows narrowed in displeasure. "Then why are you here?" she answered and this time the chiming of her voice sounded a tad bit shriller. "I don't know. You tell me. A freaking ball of flaming pixie dust just shot out of my throat and then wouldn't quit pestering me until I came here," you fired back at her while folding your arms over your chest even more. It was pitch black in the forest now and the wind had become a biting cold, you were starving and worried sick about Peter and the boys and the last thing you wanted to do was sit here and deal with pixie snark.

Selene bristled with outrage and her wings began to buzz like a hummingbird's. Her china like features began to glow with a cold silvery light. Helios placed one of his broad hands on her delicate shoulders and took an almost noticeable step in between the two of you. "Before we last departed Selene and I circled you with our dust do you remember that?" he asked and his voice was melodic and flowing like that of a wooden flute. You nodded but decided not to say anything else. Seeing your attitude Helios gave the faintest twitch of a smirk on his too handsome face. "We did that to deep seat our combined dust into you, so if ever you were in a state of great distress, the power of our dust would shoot forth and lead you straight to us." You looked down at the slightly bemused looking pixie man. Beside him Selene had calmed down and stopped glowing that eerie silver light, but she looked as cold and rigid as a beautifully sculpted ice statue. The exotic pixie man was staring intensely straight at you with his coal black eyes, but it wasn't a hostile stare, but more like a ready for anything you throw at me kind. His small body was relaxed but in a position where he could react quickly at the drop of a hat. You recognized it because Peter and The Lost Boys also stood like that when they weren't sure how the current situation would go. You trained your attention back on Helios who seemed to be the most friendly of the three. He looked unbothered by the strange meet up. His golden translucent dragonfly like wings were even lazily swishing behind his back as if he dealt with humans showing up at his place all the time. Looking at his wings you could now tell why the pixie dust ball had taken the shape of a dragonfly. "Well it worked," you shrugged not sure what else there was to say.

"Of course it did," he answered without gall, "The only problem is that you don't seem to be in great distress at the moment." You thought about that for a second. Why had their dust lead you here? What was it you were doing before it decided to rip its way out of your throat? You were at the tree house...and you were pacing and thinking about Peter and the boys...and you hated that you couldn't do anything for them, but were just sitting there on the sidelines like a useless bump on a log. Your heart was panicked for your boys out there and you kept thinking that you had to do something. That must have been the trigger. You were desperate to help somehow and everything in your being had been screaming at you to do something. You hadn't had the faintest idea what to do at that time, but now that you were crouched here in the dirt right in front of Pixie Hollow a mad harebrained scheme was beginning to take shape. You hadn't planned to come here, but since you had come all this way you might as well use it to your advantage. A wry smile began to tug the edges of your lips and you narrowed your eyes down at the three pixies. "Oh, but I am and Peter needs your help."

Helios' tiny masculine face never even flickered at your sudden statement, but beside him Selene's heart shaped one looked hard and grim. It was another crazy scheme you had come up with on the fly, but the last one with the mermaids had worked out so you had to at least take a try with this one. It was dangerous especially since you hadn't really seen the extent of what the pixies could do, but for Peter and the boys it was worth any risk. "What do you ask of us?" Helios queried in his low airy voice. "I've come to speak directly to the Faerie Courts," you replied back firmly. For the first time since you arrived Helios' calm demeanor shifted to one of great alarm and beside him Selene's delicate frame had actually shrank back and gasped which sounded like the air blowing through a whistle. A tiny fragile hand was pulled to her slim chest and her too big eyes were even wider and shined like frost while her pale pink lips hung open in obvious horror. She looked totally aghast by your words. Helios who usually looked so proud and self assured looked bewildered, his glorious beams of golden light even seemed to flicker a little. The faerie man you didn't know, didn't react like the other two. He still stayed in the same position with the same intense look, only his whole tiny body seemed to have gone still, as if he were preparing for a fight. Nervous out of your mind you proceeded anyways and repeated, "I've come to speak directly and only to the Faerie Courts and I won't say anything else except that if you don't take me to them right now you will only bring destruction upon yourselves." The faeries began to instantly chatter among themselves in a flurry of movements, but you heard no sound. Peter had told you that they could speak on a range human ears couldn't hear. Selene's moth like wings were beating back and forth quickly like a hummingbird's and Helios looked to be arguing with her. She was clearly opposed to this, but Helios wasn't so sure. The discussion was ended when the strange exotic pixie came closer towards you and said with a voice that had the low hum of a brass gong, "Very well human, we will take you, but you might not make it back."

You swallowed hard as his simple but very clear message resonated within you. By going in you were risking your life and no one here was a friend who would help you out. You were on your own in unknown and hostile territory. Still you couldn't let this stop you. Peter and the boys' lives might be dependent on this. You couldn't let them down. "I understand. Take me to them," you replied with more courage than you felt. The pixie man nodded solemnly in acknowledgement before he sprung up into the air, his neon glowing wings carrying him up towards your face. Without another word he began to circle your entire body, showering you in neon green glowing dust. It hit your skin like sparks of electricity, shocking and slightly painful. It was like static electricity was zapping you everywhere. It was uncomfortable, but it hadn't hurt too bad. After giving you a thorough dusting he gracefully took back his position in the hollowed out tree opening. You stared back at him not sure what to do now. You opened your mouth to say something, but the breath in your lungs was stolen from you and a crippling intense pain shot out from all over your body. You instinctively crouched in on yourself, your mind over ridden with sheer agony. Your bones felt like they were breaking and re-knitting themselves together, your skin felt like it was getting tighter and shriveling up. You couldn't breathe from the screaming in your lungs that felt like a fish out of water. All thought and the rest of the world was forgotten by the searing pain that felt as if it would never end. This must be what it felt like to be tortured. There was no one or nothing else but raw unceasing pain in that moment.

Finally the pain slowly started to ebb, but not fast enough. Your lungs gave a seize and you were able to gulp in a hard stream of air that hurt your ribs. Your skin went back to feeling like it fit and your bones stopped cracking and seemed to be still though there was still this terrible ache and throb. Not even the beating you had taken from the mermaids had felt like this. You laid on the cold hard ground just trying to be still. You were in the fetal position face down in the dirt, but you didn't even care. You were just thankful the agony had stopped. Your body began to tremble as it struggled to recover from the worst trauma it had ever experienced. You lay there just breathing, just trying to come back from the pain. A sudden gust of wind blew then, but it felt more like a gale wind was hitting you. It shook your entire body and it felt like you were going to be blown away. You frantically clawed your hands in the dirt to keep from being carried off by it. Suddenly something crackly had hit you square in the face like a giant poster. The wind left as suddenly as it had come and you tore, in a panic, off the thing that was clinging to your face and blinding your sight. You looked down in your hands and saw that it was a ginormous dried up leaf. The thing was about the size of your whole body! A shrill harsh laugh rang out into the air. You threw the monster leaf aside and looked towards the base of the tree where you knew Selene was laughing at you. Your anger faded instantly when you saw that the roots at the base of the tree were now as tall as the walls of the Grand Canyon. You were frozen with shock as you absorbed your over-sized surroundings. It was just as it had been before only everything was now 1,000 times bigger. Selene fluttered down off of the platform of the tree base and hovered smugly in front of you. You were now almost the same size only she was a little taller. She had a cat that ate the canary grin plastered on her too beautiful pale face. She was sparking silver dust out of her wings in taunting glee. Honestly it was the happiest you had seen her, which only made you want to punch her in her china doll face. "You freaking shrunk me!" you accused in righteous indignation. Selene's malicious smile widened as she said airily in her wind chime voice, "How else did you expect to come into the courts?"

Stymied and full of rage you glared daggers at her. She might want to rethink her smugness because now you were on fair fighting grounds and you really really wanted to put the snobbish pixie woman in her place. Your now tiny hands balled into fists and you contemplated springing up and tackling the gloating faerie, but a low resonating brass hum called out, "Are you coming in or not?" The dark pixie man whose strange glowing green dust had shrunk you landed deftly on his feet beside you. He cocked his head apathetically and reached out his hand which was now bigger than yours. Your shock and rage would have to wait. You wanted to see the Faerie Courts and if being shrunken was what it took then so be it. You nodded and hesitantly placed your hand in his outstretched one. He held onto it tightly and swung you into the front of his hard body without so much as a by your leave. Before you could kick up a fit you were being lifted into the air and carried toward the opening of the tree base where Helios still stood in all his radiant glowing gold glory. In no time at all the exotic green faerie had dropped you gently on your feet in front of Helios. "You sure you want to do this?" Helios asked you, looking down his golden amber eyes at you. No, no you were not sure at all, but it was too late to back out now. You nodded that you were and Helios seemed to accept it. He nodded his gorgeous Roman face at the exotic pixie man behind you and said, "Kwoth, I'll go ahead with Selene to the Courts. You see to it that she is presentable to the Queen." Then he elegantly turned on his heel and started striding forth into the hollowed out tree. His long flaxen yellow curls swayed behind him in between his gossamer wings as he left you behind. Selene flitted happily behind him and she cast one last look at you, smirking before she disappeared up into the tree.

"This way," the pixie man, Kwoth it seemed, grabbed your upper bicep and gently led you into the opening. You felt even more panicked now that Helios was gone and you were left alone with this strange pixie man you had never met before today and whose dust had shrunken you. It didn't help that where his warm hand had a hold on your upper arm you could feel a low current of electricity coming off of him. You were glad Selene had gone, but at least you knew somewhat what she was like, this pixie was a complete mystery and he didn't look like the type to freely divulge much about himself. A knot of fear was steadily growing in your belly as he began to lead you inside. You didn't know what was going to happen in here, but it was too late now. You had to go through with your plan or die trying. Peter and the boys deserved at least that much. Swallowing your rising panic you resolved yourself to face whatever was about to come at you. You were going to address the Faerie Courts like it or not...

To be continued…

Authors Note: Can you guys believe this is my first chapter post of 2014? I'm sooo sorry for the super long hiatus guys! I moved and began a lot of new exciting things in my life and time just seemed to get the best of me. I also went on a really long binge where I just didn't know if I wanted to write anymore. I'm glad that is over with! Don't worry guys I'm not gonna stop writing any time soon. So now that I'm back in the swing hopefully I will be able to get you guys up some chapters promptly and get this entire fic done by this year! Lol that's the goal at least but then again this was just supposed to be a 3 chapter piece. Eh, stuff happens. By the way just to clear some things up for you all, pixies and faeries are the same in my story. I know, I know, all you mythos buffs they aren't really the same species in textbook mythology but in my story they are. Also Kwoth is named after an Aboriginal spirit. I'm not as familiar with Aboriginal deities as I am with the Greek & Roman ones so it was interesting to create him as a character. And if you are curious as to what I based his wings off of then Google crystal luna moth in images, it is the one that looks like glass that isn't the real moth. I chose that one even though that isn't the luna moth itself. It was too pretty to pass up. I hope you guys aren't too disappointed by my rusty writing skills and I hope you are excited for more future chapters. Anyways, that’s all for this chapter guys. I hope you all enjoyed it. What will happen next?  Stay tuned for the next chapter to find out!
Much love to you all,
Fox
:iconyaystewieplz:I'm finally back guys!

Did you guys miss me? I sure missed you! So sorry for leaving you guys hanging without an update so long. But I've gotten back into my plot and I haz plans for the future. What do you guys think of Kwoth? He was really fun for me to write. He seems a bit too serious though lol. Maybe he just needs a hug? :D Are you guys excited for the Faerie Courts? I know I am though I still have some research left to do for it. I want you all to be blown away by the beauty and wonder of it cuz I want it to be magical!

Nerdy Magic

Please stick with me until then! Until next time guys! For exclusive updates on upcoming chapters follow me on my Tumblr. Also feel free to ask me any questions in my ask box if you have any concerns about the story or anything else.
